Doctor by vocation, Brazilian, naturalized Canadian, brought up by a Roman Catholic family that has always valued service, with the highest ethical values, regardless of the patient’s condition. With this example and inspiration, Dr. Marcos Amorim took on the mission to be a doctor.
In Brazil
Graduated in Medicine from PUCPR in 1998.
In France
Soon after graduating in Brazil, he moved to Paris, and specialized in Gastroenterology, Liver Diseases and Endoscopy at the Sorbonne University.
He received an award of honor and merit from the Prefecture of Paris as a resident of Gastroenterology and Liver Diseases of the Public Assistance of the Paris Hospitals, in 1999.
In the United States
He worked in New York at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
He then worked in Washington DC, at the Liver Clinic of Walter Reed Army Medical Center, and on April 24th, 2003 was awarded two “Certificates of Appreciation” by the US government for his outstanding performance as a physician-investigator in difficult times of war (Iraq and Afghanistan).
Dr. Amorim is a member of the American Society of Gastroenterology since July 1st, 2006.
In Canadá
In 2005 he moved to Montreal to work at the McGill University, Department of Gastroenterology, more specifically in the Inflammatory Bowel Diseases and Microbiology department. He took part in several clinical research projects targeting diseases and upper and lower acute digestive tract crisis.
Dr. Amorim is a member of the Canadian Society of Gastroenterology and in 2006 he received the Fellowship Award.
Back in Brazil
In 2014 he returned to Brazil to work in several hospitals in Curitiba and currently devotes part of his time to urgent care and medical emergency at Ecco Salva, in ambulances and support units. He also works in social projects and brings medicine to needy elderly patients with a high degree of complexity.
Always improving and updating its medical expertise, on December 11, 2022 he renewed his certificate of Advanced Cardio Life Support by the American Heart Association. He takes part in the annual meeting of the American Gastroenterological Association, the renowned DDW (Digestive Disease Week), including the latest one in Chicago, Illinois, between May 6 and 9, 2023.
He is currently taking the Medical Emergency Course with Dr. Thiago Amorim from the Albert Einstein Israeli Hospital in São Paulo,amongst others.
In his more than 20 years of medical practice Dr. Marcos Amorim has seen hundreds of thousands patients.
Presently he divides his time between emergency services at Ecco Salva, social projects, in-person consultations to English, French, and Spanish speakers, being his main focus the online consultations offered on this website.
